K-LOVE Fan Awards

K-LOVE Radio, the largest Christian radio station in the United States attracting a weekly audience of about 12 million listeners, hollered at ABC to brand their new fan-based awards show. Our goal was to create a branding packaging that kept it trill through print, web, broadcast, and live productions. Check out some of the illustrations and promos below.

ABC wrote and produced this fully animated 3d graphics spot for the K-Love Fan Awards:

Pop’t Arts Studio Event

Biggie and Tupac, Nike and Lebron, ABC and Story… These are a few of the epic collaborations of our time. We’ve been cooking something up and it’ll be popping out tha toaster on Tuesday, March 19th. ABC and Story have joined forces to present “Pop’t Arts”, a smoking hot event for artists, musicians, and creative thinkers with live performance by hip-hop recording artist, Playdough. Come peep our new studio and get it poppin with us on Tuesday, March 19th.

Gridiron Show Opener

ABC collaborated with our good friends at The Signal Factory for this project. Barton designed 3D graphics for the branding of the Outdoor Channels new show: ‘Gridiron Outdoors’, a show that features college and NFL athletes as they head out for hunting and fishing adventure.

Cool Hunting Interview

Barton c-walked into the studio Monday morning to find an email from a writer at CoolHunting.com, an award-winning publication highlighting creativity and innovation in design, technology, style, culture, food and travel, wishing to interview him. The writer came across Barton’s work at Plywerk‘s gallery in Portland, OR and fell in love with the ’5′ illustration. We were stoked to hear how she came across Barton’s art since we are huge fans of Plywerk and the amazing work they do. The interview, posted on Cool Hunting’s home page, displays Barton’s work, discusses his inspirations, and the launch of Already Been Chewed. Big shout out to CoolHunting.com for all the love!

ABC x Malibu Boats

Malibu Boats hit up ABC to help step their game up in the motion graphics department. We had the privilege of working with amazing footage from JAOPRO to create this spot. Our goal was to develop a dope, eye-catching concept that was completely unique from anything we’ve seen in the wake industry. We decided to rotoscope the footage and create the look of wakeboarders riding on glass, transferring from one panel to another.

We gladly took on the challenge of creating and animating a whole new world completely unique to any of our past projects to help communicate the positive message of I CAN HELP THE WORLD.

Lecrae Concert Visuals

Chart topping recording artist, Lecrae, contacted ABC to create concert visuals for the 2012 Unashamed Tour featuring songs off of his new album, Gravity. We are HUGE hip-hop fans and jumped at the opportunity to create graphics for one of our favorite rappers. Bumping Lecrae’s hot tracks in the studio on a daily basis, we created 20 minutes of 3D animated graphics for the live show. Lecrae is one of the next big names in hip-hop. Tell the world!

Rihanna FB Interview

The Roc is in tha building!!! ABC was contacted to create 15 minutes worth of animated visuals for the set of Facebook’s live broadcast with Rihanna promoting her new 777 tour. ABC worked directly with with the team at Facebook and Rihanna’s team to turn around the project in a few (long days). Below are some shots from the broadcast with Rihanna and host Andy Cohen.

How I Made ‘the 6th’

In Issue 99, Advanced Photoshop featured Barton’s illustration for hip-hop recording artist, Flame’s, latest album, The 6th. Barton pumped up the volume and went hyphy on this project combining elements representing money, temptation, mankind, entertainment, God’s Spirit, and love to form the number 6. In the feature, Barton explains the steps he took in isolating the photograph and properly texturing and lighting the subject resulting in this ballin’ album cover illustration.

STORY 2012 Live Visuals

STORY contacted ABC for the 4th straight year to create live visuals for their conference in Chicago. As usual, Barton went beyond the call of duty to ensure the motion graphics would exceed expectations. After months of drinking organic coffee, listening to dub step, and trading in his ABC tees and Nike Dunks for American Apparel all-over print shirts and slip on Vans, he successfully channelled his inner hipster to create these deck visuals. During Barton’s vision quest, he came up with the idea to combine cell animation and 3D renders to add depth to the hand drawn looking animals. He set up the animations to be controlled live to match each song as it was performed. As always, STORY and Chicago were great hosts. Looking forward to next year!

CCS Interview

CCS, the world’s largest online retailer of skateboard and related footwear and apparel, recently added a feature on their website titled ‘In The Studio’, highlighting artists who have designed products or campaigns within the skateboard industry. We were able to track down the author of the article and sell him on featuring Barton’s work on the shoe release campaigns of ‘The Ellington’ and ‘The S1W’ for Supra Footwear. We were able to work with some friends in video production to set up a shoot in our studio. In the interview Barton explains the meaning behind the name “Already Been Chewed”, how he got into motion graphics, and why he loves to work with skate brands.

Nike Global Release

ABC is stoked to announce our collaboration with Nike to create the campaign image for the Air Force 1 – 30th-anniversary Pearl Collection: The Hero. Barton worked directly with the Art Directors at Nike to produce this campaign image that was released globally last week. The shoe becomes available this Friday, August 31st.
The image is part of a series of 30th Anniversary releases this year by Nike for the Air Force 1. Nike provided a photograph of the gymnasium (taken in day light) that was used in previous campaigns, but this particular illustration required a complete recreation of the gym using C4D. By recreating the gym, Barton was able to control the mood of the scene with real lighting and confetti to have complete control over the intensity of the lighting and positioning of the confetti. C4D offered the flexibility to make adjustments to the details as directed by the team at Nike.

ABC on ESPN2

As long time sports fans and skateboarders, we’re stoked to have our work for Rob Dyrdek’s Street League broadcast on ESPN 2. We were hired by Street League to create the motion graphics package for the 2012 season, which includes the tv show opener and live event arena graphics. This opportunity allowed us to create a motion graphics package for a variety of visual mediums that relate to skateboarders while building a strong association between the DC Pro Tour and “The Worldwide Leader in Sports”.

Echo Conference 2012

We were contacted by RT Creative Group to create artwork for this year’s Echo Conference. The concept of a bridge theme was requested. Barton analyzed the word “ECHO” and noticed the vertical symmetry of the letters. The idea to create a series of bridges under construction over water seemed like a great solution. The reflection in the water mirrors the unfinished bridges forming the name of the conference (with a bit of artistic freedom on the “e”), echo. The images below display some of the detail and a work in progress. Echo Conference takes place July 25 – 27 at Watermark Community Church in Dallas, TX. Barton will be holding a session, speaking on his creative process. Check out all the details HERE.

Supra S1W Spot

Supra Footwear contacted us to create motion graphics and provide art direction for this spot debuting legendary street skater, Stevie Williams’, pro model shoe, the S1W. It was cool to be challenged working with previously existing video footage, creating backgrounds to match a print campaign, and using motion graphics to highlight features of the shoe, and create a logo animation.
